All of the workshops are customized to meet your needs. Except where noted, the workshops are three days in length. One day versions are frequently done at national conferences.

Measure training's impact - its programs, people, processes, and practices. This workshop shows you how to select and use a strategy to:

  • Link training to the organization's goals.
  • Evaluate training at the transfer and impact levels.
  • Evaluate training's:
    • product mix.
    • delivery methods.
    • processes.
    • instructors, contractors, and vendors.

You leave the program with a set of tools and job aids you can use back on the job to evaluate the effectiveness of your programs and the training function itself.

Certifications: How to design a defensible, cost effective program. This workshop walks you through the whole process of designing, implementing, and maintaining a certification program. Based on the book Performance-Based Certification, it covers topics such as the job/task analysis, testing, administration and tracking, recertification, going global, and evaluating the effectiveness of the program. You leave the workshop with a detailed action plan for your program.

Performance Improvement Consulting: Expanding your Scope of Services. This workshop shows how you can add performance improvement consulting to your product and services portfolio. Based on the book, The Performance Consultant's Fieldbook, it covers topics, such as the consulting process, partnering with clients to identify and resolve performance gaps, negotiating over support for needs assessment and measurement of interventions, building credibility and influence, and getting clients to consider a larger array of interventions. Through a series of examples, tools, and exercises you will learn how to leverage your current work and client relationships to incorporate performance improvement consulting. You will leave with a set of proven tools and processes for expanding your role with clients.

Tests and Assessments. This workshop is for anyone who buys or builds tests to measure learning and proficiency. Based on Westgaard's book, Tests and Work and the Workbook and Job Aids for Designing Good Fair Tests, it covers how to:

  • Develop measurable learning and performance objectives.
  • Assure your tests (pre and post, and subsequent offerings) are equitable and fair.
  • Develop multiple-choice, matching, and fill-in items.
  • Develop performance checklists.
  • Evaluate questions and whole tests.

You will leave with a set of materials and job aids you can use immediately to improve your training exercises and tests.
